Colton began his freshman year as the Varsity starting short stop. Colton ended his freshman year with a fielding % of .929. Colton had a busy year of baseball in 2005-06 and was invited to play as a middle infielder on the Cypress Stars Mickey Mantle 16U, they ended the season in 2nd place. Colton then went on to play for the Connie Mack Blue Wave 18U he again played as a starting shortstop and sometime 2nd baseman, the Wave were the 18U Champions of the Mid Summer Classic Series where Colton batted well over .500.
Colton in 2006 was invited to play with the Anderson Arsenal, again Colton started as the short-stop. With Colton's walk off 2 RBI triple this team went on to win the So. California Super Series 16U.
Colton played on the Silver Medal winning team sponsored by Anderson Bat Co. in the 2006 Jr. Olympics. He also ended his sophmore year with the honour of All League/INF
